Every year we see a whole host of actors really make their breakthrough and 2011 has been no different - a handful of stars have really made their mark over the last twelve months.

So here at FemaleFirst we take a look at some of the actors who have made a very powerful impression and what lies ahead for them.

Chris Hemsworth

Chris Hemsworth made his breakthrough this year in spectacular fashion as he took on the role of Thor as the marvel hero was brought to the big screen for the first time.

Hemsworth mixed well the action, emotional and comic elements of the movie to make Thor one of the most successful blockbusters of 2011.

And Thor is a character that he is set to reprise in next summer as he joins the all star cast of The Avengers, which also includes Robert Downey Jr,Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo.

Away from marvel movies and the actor will join a second all star cast next summer for Snow White and the Huntsman.

The movie is a new take on the popular story Snow White and Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron are also on the cast list.

Sam Claflin

This summer saw the return of Pirates of the Caribbean to the big screen as On Stranger Tides marked the fourth instalment of the hit franchise.

Sam Claflin was one of the new names on the cast list as he took on the ‘Orlando Bloom’ type role this time around.

To kick off your career with a movie that makes over $1 billion at the box office is not bad going and that success looks set to continue into next year.

In 2012 we are going to see him mix movie roles with TV as he is set to star in series White Heat before returning to the big screen in Snow White and the Huntsman - as Prince William.

LOS ANGELES—Happy New Year! As we ring in 2012, we look back on our most memorable 2011 interviews one last time.

Kristen Stewart

Kristen was painfully shy and awkward in our first few interviews. But now she has remarkably grown into a very articulate woman. She’s one of a few actors who really weighs her answers. Kristen carefully considers the words she says because she means them. Sometimes, she appears somewhat nervous, but that’s just who she is.

She does not make long-range plans: “I’m not the type of person who can sit down and map out a career. As soon as you start doing that, there’s no way for you to know what you’re going to love. I don’t understand that mentality. I’ve gotten exceptionally lucky. The things that have spoken to me, like ‘Twilight’ and ‘Snow White and the Huntsman,’ could have been made for 100 bucks. I would have done it, both of them. I’m led by other things rather than how high the profile of a film is. That means nothing to me. Whatever happens, happens. Hopefully, I stay in a position where I can do things that provoke me.”

Kristen Stewart wrapped Snow White and the Huntsman just before the Christmas holiday — and already is getting nothing but praises from her cast mates.

Nick Frost, who stars as one of Snow White’s trusty dwarf friends, tells MTV, “It was our last day on Friday, and she has kind of a big rabble rousing speech, and she’s great. She’s fun on set. She’s a fantastic actress.”

A wig maker who has created hairpieces for Harry Potter goblins and moustaches for the 118 118 twins is turning her attention to sparing the blushes of real people who have lost their hair.

Amy Holt, 26, has worked on Midsomer Murders, the Glyndebourne Opera Festival and her latest wig-work can be seen in Spielberg’s War Horse.

Twilight star Kristen Stewart will be on screen with crowd members whose hair has been done by Amy in the new Snow White and the Huntsman movie.

Mirror, mirror in the box-office brawl: Who will be the fairest of them all?

Will the dueling Snow White films top the 2012 box office, or will it be a bunch of teenagers fighting to the death in “The Hunger Games?” Will “Titanic 3D” surface on top? Will it be the Dark Knight or Spidey who delivers the action fix this summer?

“Snow White and the Huntsman” (June 1): Kristen Stewart takes on the role of Snow, now with Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen in the re-re-telling of the fairy tale where a huntsman is told to take Snow into the woods and whack her. He lets her go, but then they have to find an escape route. The film also stars Chris Hemsworth, Eddie Izzard and Ian McShane.

That night I was called upon to DJ for the wrap party for the film Snow White And The Huntsman – with its Warhol Factory theme, it was right up my street and an absolutely storming do.

After my first set I bumped into an old friend, Rupert Sanders who directed the film that twists the old Brothers Grimm fairy tale. It stars Kristen ‘Twilight’ Stewart in the title role with Charlize Theron as Queen Ravena.

He then introduced me to Stewart, who, dressed like a young indie kid, I’d completely failed to recognize in the low lights of the club!

But I reckon I redeemed myself: l was the last on the decks and, after mixing Mock and Tuff into Todd Terje’s re-edit of the classic Horse With No Name by America, I saw Kirsten dancing with her hands in the air. Job done says I.
