Between Snow White and the Huntsman and The Avengers and the lesser celebrated though wholly worthyCabin in the Woods, it's been a great year for Chris Hemsworth, and we should still see him in the long delayed remake of Red Dawn sometime this year. Now the actor is lining up more future projects as Deadlinereports Hemsworth has just become attached to In the Heart of the Sea, a long gestating adaptation ofNathaniel Philbrick's book of the same name which tells the story of the real-life disaster of a ship being destroyed by a sperm whale in 1820, which inspired Herman Melville's classic novel Moby Dick.

Chris Hemsworth is water-bound after signing up to star in the disaster tale In the Heart of the Sea.
In the true-story film, Hemsworth will play the first mate of a ship attacked by a giant sperm whale, which leads to a shipwreck of potentially cannibalistic proportions. In the Heart of the Sea has been in the works for several years — with everyone from Edward Zwick to Barry Levinson attached to direct at various times — and is said to have inspired Herman Melville's literary classic Moby Dick. It'll be quite a change — at least settingwise — for Hemsworth, who has already appeared in two blockbusters this summer: the all-star superhero epic The Avengers and the reimagined fairytale adaptationSnow White and the Huntsman. He will be seen next in November's perpetually delayed action remake Red Dawn. Source: Charlize Theron's new haircut is creating quite a buzz. The actress, 36, was photographed with a shaved head while carrying son Jackson, 6 months, in Beverly Hills Monday. Theron's new look is for her role as Furiosa in Mad Max 4: Fury Road, her rep confirms to Us Weekly. Theron was first attached to the film in 2009 (along with Tom Hardy, 34), but it was shelved after a series of production setbacks. "It's been three years: It's time to skin this cat already!" Theron told Us while promoting Prometheus in London May 30. "I'm very excited about it."

Chris Hemsworth was asked in a recent interview with MTV for “Snow White and the Huntsman” about the “Thor” sequel and whether his co-star Charlize Theron, who has long been linked with the role, would be a good fit. He agreed but said her schedule made it unlikely. Regarding the Enchantress rumours first; “I’m not playing the usual, sidestepping that we normally have to do, I haven’t read a script. They have a bunch of different ideas, but that sounds interesting.” And regarding the Theron rumours; “Oh right. Well she certainly plays a pretty intimidating villain, I think she’d be awesome but I think she’s tied up in 20 other films. I think she’s going on to ‘Mad Max’ next. [But] you never know. Fingers crossed!” Read More Here: Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth seem to have found themselves in another franchise! Considering the opening weekend box office success of "Snow White and the Huntsman," it's no surprise that Universal has given a green light to a sequel.
Scribe David Koepp is already writing No. 2, according to Deadline, and Rupert Sanders is meeting with Universal about returning to direct the next installment. So what will the new film be about? Sanders tells MTV that now that Snow White has been made queen, the purity and innocence that made her valuable in the first film could be compromised. "I think the corruption of power would be the second one," he says. "I think we've created this very chaste girl who's got to this position and now she's in this position of supreme power." He goes even further into just how corrupt she might go. "There's so many examples of people corrupted by power. When we were talking about it, myself and [producer] Joe Roth, there were so many things happening in the newspapers of these very powerful men abusing that power in hotelsand sports locker rooms. People who get powerful sometimes lose their bearings and abuse that power and that's kind of an intoxicating theme." One person who isn't particularly psyched about a potentially corrupt Snow White? Stewart herself. "Well, I'm not saying anything. Nothing at all," she laughed. "Let's undermine our entire lead character in the very second [film]."Follow Zap2it on Twitter and Zap2it on Source: Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest cable network of them all?
For "Snow White and the Huntsman," the answer is FX, which struck a deal with Universal Pictures to acquire the commercial cable rights to last weekend's No. 1 movie. The purchase is FX's latest in a series of big movie deals. The network also recently acquired Sony Pictures' sequel "Men in Black 3," Paramount Pictures' Sacha Baron Cohen comedy "The Dictator" and Universal's box-office miss "Battleship." Through a long-term distribution agreement with Marvel, FX also has the rights to this summer's mega hit "The Avengers" -- one of the top-grossing movies of all time. Many commercial cable networks have steered clear of buying movies because by the time they are available for airing they have already been on pay cable channels, DVDs and elsewhere. However, FX still finds feature films serve as a strong promotional platform for original content and can draw solid ratings that justify the price. The price for the TV rights to a movie is determined by how well it did at the box office. Deals typically run about four years and the license fee is generally 10% to 12% of the U.S. box-office take. Usually, there is a cap of $200 million on any one film in determining the price. Source: Chris Hemsworth discussed the Thor and Avengers films, his fear/love/respect of his co-stars, and behind-the-scenes clothing malfunctions. According to most chick lit I’ve read, the male protagonists typically view the heroines as incredibly catty towards beautiful women. However, I found the reverse in reality. Although the Philly Comic Con theater literally OVERFLOWED with Chris Hemsworth fans of all ages, races, sizes and genders, afterwards whenever I talked to male attendees, they either claimed they didn’t go or couldn’t stop pointing out the three women who requested hugs, moderately outraged at the god-like adulation Hemsworth received. But, is Chris Hemsworth worthy of all that reverence? Absolutely. He is totallyHemsworthy. I’m surprised only three women requested hugs and not the entire audience as Chris charmed everyone with his casual Australian accent while rocking beach-blond, surfer-streaked hair and dressed in a crisp, charcoal gray shirt. One woman, a Chicago graphic designer with GraphixSpot.com, traveled to Philadelphia just to meet Chris. Check out the gallery for Nicole’s impressive rendering of Hemsworth’s chiseled features. Of the men who didn’t jealously refuse to attend (or overtly comment on Hemsworth’s female fans), all admitted they found his down-to-earth nature absolutely appealing. And, he was. After the first or second woman requested a hug, Hemsworth started offering kisses to the next guy who hit the mike. Although he remains grateful to the opportunities the action-adventure-sci fi film genre afforded him (Star Trek, Thor, Avengers, Snow White and the Huntsman), he spoke warmly of his most recent Ron Howard project which tends towards the normal and historical, surrounding a 1970s Formula One race car driver. |
