4. Snow White and The Huntsman (2012) – After taking a quick break for hot tea (the room was freezing and they let you leave for concessions without having to get back in the long line), we finally made it to the front section seats for theSnow White (Kristen Stewart) and The Huntsman Panelincluding Charlize Theron (Prometheus), Chris Hemsworth(Thor, and plays The Huntsman), Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) and Director Rupert Sanders (Halo 3 campaign.) This film is about to kick off production, and it was exciting to see the cast’s dynamics develop on stage. Charlize Theron will play the Evil Queen, and there were several LOL moments captured with Kristen Stewart in this VIDEO: Comic-Con Celebrity Panel - Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron. When asked about his family and friend’s take on him playing a prince, Sam Claflinshared, “It’s definitely a crock…It’s not part of my personality that I tend to exuberate too much. However, this is a new take on the story and so the prince is not necessarily as charming as one would hope, in a good way, it brings something new to a classic fairytale.” We also saw a poster of the 8 dwarfs (you’ll have to watch the film to find out why there are 8 versus 7 dwarfs.) The cast took off after the panel for London to start production for this film that will be out in 2012.

What’s a studio to do? How about recruit fans at Comic-Con 2011 with some stills of the cast in costume, a charming British director with an impressive commercial reel and a crew of good-looking lead actors? That’s what Universal Pictures did Saturday afternoon during a panel featuring Stewart, evil queen Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth as the huntsman and Sam Claflin (“Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”) as the prince. Producers Joe Roth and Palak Patel were also present to explain their vision for this epic adventure. Patel made it clear that if the Grimm brothers were alive, they would be very proud of the “Snow White” movie that’s about to be made. Roth said he wants the film to be “like ‘Lord of the Rings’ in terms of scope and size.” |
