Now, one of the actors from the film, Nick Frost, has admitted to signing on for two sequels – thusly suggesting, once again, this is planned as a trilogy. Speaking to MovieLine: And did you sign on for multiple SWATH films as well? Three, yeah. We’ll see where it goes. We were talking about it on set the other day, where it would start and what it would be. We’ll have to see how well it does, I guess. But I think we’d all love to do another one. We had a real laugh every day." He also talked about the atmosphere of the set and what it was like to work with Kristen Stewart and the others cast as dwarves for the film.
You’re in great company with the other seven dwarfs. What was that cast like? It was fantastic! I got to hang out with Toby Jones, Eddie Marsan, Johnny Harris, Bob Hoskins, Ray Winstone, for God’s sake. I got to just sit around and listen to those guys tell stories. I like the idea of Kristen Stewart, of all people, sitting in the middle of that group of men — and also the colliding of worlds, your universe and fan base overlapping with Twilight. Exactly! I was sitting next to Bob Hoskins and Bella Swan! Please tell me you and Bob Hoskins and Kristen Stewart talked Twilight on set. Not really. I think she’d be pretty sick to the bloody back teeth of listening about Twilight. On set she’s another actress, and a lot of the time actors just talk about nothing. Talk about shit, they just chew the fat. That’s what you do! So, trilogy it is then. We too are wondering where the story will take them to next. But first, we must get through SWATH and see how that turns out, right? Arlington —In 2003, Charlize Theron deglamourized to deliver a sensational, headline-grabbing performance in Patty Jenkins’ “Monster,” playing convicted serial killer Aileen Wuornos.
The “monster” Theron plays in Jason Reitman’s “Young Adult” is of an entirely different breed. The character here is a depressed, loathsome young adult fiction writer and self-proclaimed alcoholic — a beautiful, seemingly successful author whose life begins on a downward spiral. It would be easy to discredit Theron for the work she does in this film, her porcelain beauty in tact. But Theron, fearlessly and without vanity, does something in “Young Adult” that equals the impact of her iconic performance in “Monster” — she finds the ugly behind the beauty. And her willingness to confront the dark depths of the character’s desperation proves a devastating and sometimes very funny ride. Theron is the real deal and so is “Young Adult.” Source: WickedLocal.com Total Film recently sat down with the delightful Charlize Theron to chat about her award-baiting turn in Jason Reitman’s Young Adult, and talk turned to her role in Ridley Scott’s Prometheus.
When we asked if her role in the Alien sorta-prequel would be comparable to Sigourney Weaver’s iconic Ripley, she replied, “No, I actually don’t play the heroine in it; that’s Noomi Rapace. I play somewhat of a villain in it.” When we pressed her on the type of villain she’d be playing, she told us, “She’s not believer, she’s not a scientist, she is the red tape that everyone has to go through. In his feature film debut, the first look at Rupert Sanders’ iteration of the classic story definitely took a lot of people by surprise; it’s much more Lord of the Rings than Alice in Wonderland. Charlize Theron is a delight any time she gets a meaty character to chew on, and she appears to be in fine form here as the Evil Queen. We haven’t seen much from Kristen Stewart yet, but turning Snow White into a sort of reluctant warrior is definitely an interesting direction. Sanders’ visuals are epic in scope, and I’m enticed to find out if this ambitious fairy tale delivers. Also included on the list is Charlize Theron's "Prometheus" as well as Chris Hemsworh's "The Avengers." PROMETHEUS Director: Ridley Scott Cast: Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, and Guy Pearce Release Date: June 8th, 2012 (3D) Why We’re Excited About It: This maybe-probably prequel to Ridley Scott’s Alien marks a much-welcomed return to the sci-fi genre for the director. Judging by the footage seen so far, it appears that he’s returning to the horror tone that he so expertly pulled off with the 1979 pic. The cast is pretty great, with Michael Fassbender—a damn fine actor and everyone’s current obsession—playing an android and Noomi Rapace set as the lead. We still know very little plotwise, but given its connection to Alien and the fact that Scott is tackling sci-fi once more, I’m incredibly eager to check this one out. THE AVENGERS Director: Joss Whedon
Cast: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, and Mark Ruffalo Release Date: May 4th, 2012 (3D) Why We’re Excited About It: The road that began with 2008’s Iron Man comes to a turning point here with the superhero movie to end all superhero movies. As if bringing together Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, and Hulk wasn’t enough, Marvel nabbed “God of Nerds” Joss Whedon to write and direct the pic. While everyone’s definitely looking forward to seeing Tony Stark trade jabs with Steve Rogers, The Avengers also provides a look into the future as it sets up “Phase 2” of Marvel’s development slate (which will presumably culminate with The Avengers 2). Chris Hemsworth (Thor)He was days away from shooting the Marvel comic-book ensemble The Avengers last May when Thor — the movie that would introduce Chris Hemsworth as the titular superhero god — opened in theaters. Was he nervous? ''I could say I wasn't, but I'd be lying,'' laughs the 28-year-old Aussie. ''I had my fingers crossed, absolutely!'' Thor went on to gross a mighty $181 million, and suddenly the actor most remembered for his cameo as Captain Kirk's doomed father in J.J. Abrams' 2009 Star Trek reboot was a bona fide star. By the time The Avengers wrapped, Hemsworth had been cast in two major projects for 2012: Snow White and the Huntsman, opposite Kristen Stewart, and Ron Howard's Formula One racing drama Rush. Work kept Hemsworth so busy he almost forgot to enjoy himself. ''It's only now that I sit back from it and I go, 'Oh, wow!' '' he says. --Anthony Breznican
